How UK Shoppers Cut Costs at OHS

OHS sells a broad mix of home and lifestyle products, including bedding, curtains, cushions and throws, homeware, bedroom furniture, rugs and mats, bathroom accessories, clothing, pet products, travel items and garden furniture. Its UK website also highlights new arrivals, price-drop collections and limited-time featured deals across selected products.

This guide shows UK shoppers how to reduce the final cost without relying on unverified claims. It focuses on checking the live product price, choosing delivery carefully, reviewing promotion terms, protecting your return position and using the OHS discount codes page only when a current offer is clearly described and suitable for your basket.

Start with the product price

Begin by deciding exactly what you need, then compare similar products within the same OHS category. The site covers everything from everyday bedding and storage to larger purchases such as furniture and rugs, so the cheapest-looking item is not always the lowest-cost option once delivery, size and potential return costs are considered.

Use the product page to check dimensions, materials, colours, availability and any dispatch information before adding an item to your basket. OHS states in its terms that product images are illustrative, colours may appear differently on screens and measurements can have a tolerance. Checking the specification before paying can help prevent an avoidable return.

Use the retailer’s own deal areas

OHS promotes sections such as Price Drops, New In, £10 and Under and Deal of the Week. These are useful starting points when you are flexible about colour, style or brand. A price-led section can reduce the item price without requiring a code, but availability and conditions may change.

The retailer’s terms say that Weekly Deals run for a limited period, from 9am on Monday until 8am the following Monday, and are available while stocks last. OHS also reserves the right to amend or cancel them. Check the live product page and basket total on the day you order rather than relying on an old advertised price.

Selected products may also display a Buy One Get One Free message. OHS says eligible customers must purchase two qualifying items during the promotional period and that the discount is applied automatically at checkout, with the cheaper item free. Do not add a second product solely for a promotion unless you genuinely need both items, and read the product wording carefully before paying.

Compare delivery with the saving

For mainland UK shoppers, OHS lists standard delivery at £3.95, express delivery at £6.95 and next-day guaranteed delivery at £9.99, subject to the stated dispatch conditions. Large items have separate listed charges, including £6.95 for standard delivery and £9.95 for express delivery. Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, offshore locations and some large products may have different charges or restrictions.

Standard delivery may be the most economical choice if you do not need the order urgently. On a small basket, an express upgrade can absorb much of the saving from a lower product price. Compare the complete basket total, not just the product subtotal.

Rugs, furniture and other large items may be dispatched separately. OHS also says orders can arrive in multiple packages from two warehouse locations. If you are buying several items for one room, allow for separate deliveries and check the dispatch information for each product.

Check your basket before applying any offer

Review the quantity, colour, size and delivery address before moving to payment. OHS says it cannot usually cancel an order after it has been placed because its warehouse begins picking and packing quickly. It also says that items cannot be added after an order is placed.

If you are eligible for a student benefit, OHS lists a Student Beans section, but the available terms and value should be confirmed through the relevant verification process before you rely on it. Avoid assuming that an account, email sign-up or previous order automatically gives you a reduction. Only use an offer when the eligibility requirements and saving are clearly displayed.

Entering a code at checkout

If the OHS checkout presents a promotional-code field, enter a code exactly as shown and select the button or option provided to apply it. Then confirm that the basket subtotal, delivery charge and final payable amount have changed as expected before completing payment. A code should not be treated as valid merely because it appears on a search result or an old message.

If no code field is displayed, do not force a code into another box or assume that a discount will be applied later. Instead, check the product page, basket, promotion wording and checkout summary for an automatic reduction. Continue only when the price shown at the final review stage is the price you are prepared to pay. The retailer’s published terms do not confirm that promotional codes can be stacked, so do not assume that multiple offers will work together.

Protect the value of your order

OHS states that unwanted items generally need to be complete, unused, in “as new” condition and returned within 14 days. Its FAQ says a £3.50 return postage cost may be deducted when an item is returned because it is no longer required, and the original delivery cost may also be excluded from the refund. The retailer does not currently offer an exchange facility, according to its FAQ.

These conditions make accurate measuring and careful product selection especially important for curtains, rugs, furniture and bedding. Keep packaging until you are sure the item is suitable, inspect goods without damaging them and retain order details. A small saving is not worthwhile if an avoidable return removes it.

Quick checklist

  • Compare the full basket total, including UK delivery.
  • Check dimensions, materials, colour and dispatch information.
  • Review Price Drops, Deal of the Week and other live deal sections.
  • Read the conditions for any automatic promotion before adding extra items.
  • Use standard delivery when speed is unnecessary.
  • Check whether large-item or location-specific delivery charges apply.
  • If a code field appears, apply the code and confirm the revised total.
  • If no code field appears, look for an automatic saving instead.
  • Keep packaging and inspect items carefully before use.
  • Record the order details and return deadline.

For a final check before you pay, compare your basket with the latest offers shown on the OHS discount codes page, then rely on the saving displayed in the checkout summary.
